Psychosocial disabilty describes the effect on daily living some mental health issues can have. A psychosocial disabilty can make everyday tasks much harder to complete such as banking, dealing with large crowds, or even taking care of yourself. These difficulties can become serious and lasting problems that are hard to manage alone.
DMI psychologist use what is called a “bio-psycho-social” approach. This approach recognises that your body affects your brain, and your brain affects your relationships. We know it is hard to balance these things when multiple problems are interacting with each other. Our services are designed to support you biologically, psychologically, and socially, bringing balance back into your live.
NDIS supports people with a disabilty. The goal is to increase indepedence for interdepedence: freedom with yourself helps you become a part of the community. The NDIS gives the opportunities to certain people who qualify. People meeting criteria to access NDIS services are known as “participants”.
