ACT for Ability

DMI’s Day Therapy
(max. 6 per group)

“Accept what is out of your personal control, and
commit to action that improves and enriches your life”

Russ Harris

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) invites people to open up to unpleasant feelings, learn not to overreact to them, and develop ways of not avoiding situations where they are invoked. DMI’s day therapy group is an ACT informed program, designed to introduce and instil mindfulness and behaviour change strategies through modified therapeutic activities.

The primary goal for ACT for Ability participants is to enhance psychological flexibility, without which can be a major barrier to reducing the impact of psychosocial disabilities.

With Psychological Flexibility comes Ability

Our ACT for Ability day intervention limits each group to six (6) participants, as we believe small groups maximise meaningful engagement and learning opportunities. Each program is tailored to the specific needs of the group, with a curated set of ACT based activities that meets each participant where they are at.
